My cat's name is Eris.
I learned my lesson. Pets become much like their namesakes. My next cat will be named something much less bitchy.

Sun, November 23, 2003 - 1:57 AMI've not had this experience. I have a tabby- (or should I say, she has me wrapped around her little paw-) named Pandora. To the best of my knowledge, she has opened no box o' ills. She is, at the moment, purring contentedly upon my lap. -

Thu, March 11, 2004 - 9:36 AMI have a dog named Natasha and she is Satan on speed. Know any evil Tasha's? Perhaps that's just a result of her being a 2-year-old dalmation.
I also have a tomcat named Mao. He's absent, aloof and friendly at the same time. I have no knowledge of the former chairman so maybe someone can help me out.
Hail Eris

Sun, December 7, 2003 - 5:47 PMMy cat's name is Emperor Norton. He named himself. I leave the rest as an exercise.
I inherited another cat named Loki. No explanation necessary there.. -

Re: Meow Eris
Thu, March 11, 2004 - 3:13 AMThe best part about Emperor Joshua II is that he has to have the most imperious miaow I've ever heard. I used to love it when he would come mincing down the stairs, survey the room and his subjects, and then when you moved toward him like you were going to pet him or something he'd just miaow at you like 'Hey, what do you think you're doing, subject? I didn't give you permission to think. Now go fill my food dish.' And then he'd saunter off to whereever it is that cats go to when they disappear.
The other fun thing was watching the Emperor look for fnords. It was by studying him that I came to the conclusion that all cats can see the fnords, and watch them intently when they pass. Or perhaps they're actually looking at the Cerenkov radiation created by the passing fnords, not actually at the fnords themselves. Hmm, an addition to my theory. Must analyze this...
Loki has opposable thumbs. Rare in a cat, I think.

Re: Meow Eris
Mon, August 4, 2008 - 6:57 AMI named my new rescue "Luna Pratini" which is Latin for Moon Meadow, as I found her abandoned in a Moonlight meadow.
I find it hard to imagine a moonlit meadow menacing me. Dodged a bullet there; but my first of my three current cats is named Hypocrytea, named for Hypocrytes and has been no end of trouble in one form or another; While the other cat, Napolita, named for Napoleon, exemplifies more of the Isle of Elba years of her namesake, being laidback and easygoing.
